After fifteen years as a professional woman in the Maine business community, I have come to strongly believe that women develop business very differently than men. While golfing and racquetball may suffice for men to engage in their own corporate development, for many women, having a relationship with another business associate is critical in referring and continuing to refer business.
For women, I believe, it is a matter of trust. Trust that a business associate is operating at a standard of practice that mirrors our own values and trust that our clients will be treated in the same manner as we would treat them and understanding that referring business to an associate is ultimately a reflection on our own business.
I started the Maine Professional Business Women to provide like-minded business women a forum to develop their own business goals. This organization strives to offer social networking, education, resources, opportunity, community support and conversation between Maine business women.
Its a new year and a new format! While we will continue to meet on the third Wednesday of every month, after our Second Anniversary meeting in April of 2012, it will be a members-only event. Come and learn about our new format as we continue to grow Maine Professional Business Women.
Best wishes,
Mary-Anne E. Martell, Founder & President
